Goblins

After having dealt with the trolls, Calvin, an elf, returns home. When he reaches the door, his phone rings. “Who the hell would call me now?” Calvin mutters. “Hello, who is this?” Calvin asks as he picks up the phone.

“I’m still surprised you didn’t recognize the number.” Deville says.

“Oh what is it now Deville? I just got back from the troll incident, can’t I just get a day break between missions?” Calvin answers wryly.

“Not unless you want to lose the mission.” Deville replies

“Fine, what is it?” Calvin says in a rapt tone.

“You have to take care of a band of goblins up north,” Deville says

“Goblins, seriously. Fine I’ll do it but you better pay 6 grand when we get back because it’ll be a waste of my time” Calvin answers subsided.

“Okay, but you better leave now.” Deville answers.

Calvin grabs his stuff and walks out of the apartment building. Instead of using his car, he teleports to the location that Deville sent him. It was near Seattle, about 20 miles north. Once Calvin teleports there, he understands why he was sent after goblins. The town looked like one in an apocalypse. The shops and buildings were stripped of parts here and there. Calvin was subdued at how devastated the town looked. He knew that goblins would take a scrap piece here and there, but now they went overboard by stealing half the town. As Calvin searches the first shop, he gets lucky and finds the goblins. Calvin speaks to them in their native language, telling them that they should stop stealing or they will be reprehensible. The goblins reply over their dead bodies. Calvin jumps into action, pulls out his sword and mutters ignis and activus, the command words for his sword to be as sharp as steel and to set the sword blazing. As he swings towards the goblins, two turn into a pile of ash and the rest scatter about to buy time to get their weapons. With one hand, Calvin waves it and the green tendrils ooze from it to kill two more goblins. “Four down, two to go,” Calvin thinks. He rushes into the fray and mutters glacies, command word for a cold spell. Soon, all four goblins are frozen and dead with their heads chopped off.

After having teleported back to Seattle, Calvin calls Deville and tells him the job is done. He sees that 6 grand was transferred to his bank account. From there, Calvin crashes into his bed and sleeps like a rock.

The End
